Digital Scrapbooking Day is Coming. Simple as that. Here's all I could find towards this big day on the digital scrapper's radar.

Digital Scrapbooking Day site - maintained by Susan White. People who visit this site during the day will be up for prizes from sponsoring Shutterfly. Visit the site beforehand for announcements and news on all of the events out there. It also has an RSS feed, so you can subscribe to it through your feed-reader of choice.

Other Sites :
  • Digiscrap Wiki has some pages on the event, and discussions.
  • Hummie's DSD Tailgate Party on her blog
  • DSD-Pro has some discussion. Note - DSD-Pro stands for Digital Scrapbook Designer Professionals, not Digital Scrapbooking Day in this case. Coincidental use of initials.
  • Molly Newman's blog for Digital Scrapbooking Magazine is running a competition through a flickr group. She's also interested in hearing news of any events out there for the day.
  • Scrapbook Bytes, A Cherry on the Top, Designer Digitals, KB and Friends, Digitals, are all providing events / challenges and contests for the day. See the DSD website for info on these.
  • Memories Makers Magazine, and Scraphead are both providing free kits for the event. Again, see the DSD website for details and links.
  • Mona Minnie's Digital Scrap Connection site has a new section for DSD events where stores or designers can advertise towards their events or specials.
There is obviously speculation (consumer hope) in the industry that many more digital stores will join in over the day / weekend and provide some store sales as an incentive to visit. However, many stores are so far keeping quiet about their plans for the weekend.

GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program.

It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It works on many operating systems, in many languages. If you're after a free photo editor which deals with layers and various file types, then try GIMP.
